The rules beyond the game

Terms & conditions

Clear expectations for playing, collecting, and being part of Aetheros.

Last updated · Version 2026-09-23

01 About these terms

These terms govern the Aetheros website, its game modes, and related features (the “Service”). Aetheros is independently created and operated by Drew Schineller, based in Massachusetts, United States. “Aetheros,” “we,” and “us” refer to Drew Schineller as the operator. “You” means the person using the Service.

By affirmatively accepting these terms during registration or another acceptance step, you agree to this agreement with Drew Schineller. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use features that require acceptance. Any purchase-specific terms shown at checkout also apply to that purchase. Nothing here removes rights that the law does not allow you to waive.

02 Age & accounts

The Service is not intended for children under 13. You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required in your location. If you are below the age of legal adulthood, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these terms and authorize your use and any purchases.

Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and do not sell, share, or transfer your account. You are responsible for activity you authorize through it. Report suspected unauthorized access promptly. Do not impersonate another person or use an account to evade a restriction.

03 Fair play & conduct

Help keep Aetheros fair and welcoming. You must not:

  • Harass, threaten, scam, impersonate, or share another person’s private information.
  • Use cheats, bots, unauthorized automation, or exploits to manipulate matches, rewards, inventories, trades, or rankings.
  • Access accounts or systems without permission, distribute malware, or disrupt the Service.
  • Post unlawful or infringing material, or use the Service for commercial spam or unauthorized advertising.
  • Sell accounts or virtual items for real money, or arrange off-platform exchanges that bypass the game’s trading features.

Report bugs rather than exploiting them. These restrictions do not limit activities that applicable law expressly permits.

04 Content & ownership

The Service’s original code, writing, designs, branding, and other protected materials belong to their respective rights holders. Access to the game does not transfer intellectual property rights. Some materials may be licensed from third parties or created with AI assistance; rights are reserved only to the extent they exist under applicable law.

Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to use the Service for noncommercial entertainment. You may share your own gameplay screenshots and videos, including monetized gameplay commentary, if you respect other people’s rights and do not imply official endorsement. This does not authorize selling or redistributing standalone game assets.

You retain any rights you have in content you submit. You grant us a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and adapt that content only as reasonably needed to operate and moderate the Service. This license ends when the content is removed, except for reasonable backup retention or records required by law. You must have permission to submit it. You allow us to use voluntary suggestions without payment or an obligation to implement them.

05 Cards & virtual items

Cards, Gold, Astral Crystals, cosmetics, rewards, and other virtual items are licensed for use within Aetheros. They are not money, investments, or a promise of real-world value. They cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law.

Astral Crystals are nontransferable and are used for eligible cosmetics. Other items may be traded only where the game expressly supports it. Review each trade before confirming it; completed trades may not be reversible, except where correction or a legal remedy is required.

Random rewards do not guarantee a particular card or result unless expressly stated. Balance, progression, and item functionality can change. A “permanent” cosmetic means an unlock without a scheduled expiration within the Service, not a guarantee that the Service will operate forever. Changes remain subject to your rights concerning paid digital content.

06 Purchases & refunds

Where purchases are available, review the item, currency, price, and applicable taxes before confirming payment. Only use a payment method you are authorized to use. Crystal packs are one-time purchases unless an offer expressly states otherwise. Payments use a third-party checkout; the seller identified there and any additional checkout terms apply to the transaction.

Digital items are supplied after payment is confirmed. Unless an offer or applicable law provides otherwise, purchases are final once correctly delivered. This does not exclude remedies for unauthorized charges, non-delivery, faulty or misdescribed content, or any statutory cancellation or refund rights.

If local law gives you a cooling-off or withdrawal right, it remains in place unless it is lawfully waived through the required express consent and acknowledgment before digital delivery. These terms alone do not waive that right.

For a payment problem, use the support details on your receipt or checkout confirmation and include your order reference. Never send your password or full payment card details. Refunded or reversed purchases may result in removal of the corresponding Crystals or items, subject to applicable law. A good-faith refund request or payment dispute alone is not grounds for an account ban.

07 Updates & availability

Aetheros is an evolving independent game. Features, card balance, rewards, and supported devices may change, and maintenance or technical problems can interrupt access. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free play, or indefinite retention of every feature or saved game.

We may correct errors or rewards obtained through exploits and may discontinue features or the Service. Where reasonably practicable, we will give advance notice of significant changes or closure. Any changes affecting paid content remain subject to legally required notice, continued access, refunds, or other remedies.

08 Account restrictions

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address a material breach of these terms, fraud, security risks, harm to others, or a legal requirement. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to seek review. Urgent action may be taken without advance notice.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Account closure may end access to progress and virtual items, subject to applicable law. Termination does not remove accrued payment obligations or legal rights, including any required refund. Provisions intended to survive termination, including ownership and liability provisions, continue to apply.

09 Privacy & cookies

Aetheros uses cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, support game and payment features, and remember the display choices you make. We do not use this storage for targeted advertising, cross-site advertising profiles, or selling your personal information. Some preferences, such as the public card gallery’s display mode, work even when you are signed out.

What is stored on your device

  • Sign-in: Supabase authentication cookies maintain your session between pages and visits. They may be refreshed while you use the site and expire according to their cookie settings and your browser’s limits. Signing out clears the authentication session.
  • Display choices: profile sorting cookies last up to one year. Card-view preferences use local storage and remain until you clear them or turn off remembering below.
  • Game features: a session cookie carries your selected Story-mode characters between screens. A local-storage signal keeps cosmetic changes in sync across open tabs; it is overwritten when another change occurs and otherwise remains until cleared.
  • Checkout: temporary session storage helps resume a payment attempt without starting a duplicate order. It is cleared when the attempt is completed or reset, or when the browser ends the tab’s session.
  • Your storage choice: if you change the setting below, a local preference remembers that choice on this browser until you clear it or change it again.

Save your card view and sorting preferences between visits. Turning this off clears those preferences and stops saving them. Sign-in, gameplay, and payment storage are unaffected.

You can also delete or block cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out or prevent features from working. Clearing all site storage also clears the preference above. Your account’s terms acceptance is recorded on the server, so clearing cookies does not erase it.

Account information and service providers

Drew Schineller, the operator identified above, uses your account details, game progress, collections, trades, settings, purchase records, and terms-acceptance records to operate Aetheros, provide requested features, secure accounts, and meet legal obligations. Profiles and activity may be visible to other players according to the feature and your privacy settings.

Operating the site requires service providers to process information. Supabase provides authentication and database services; Vercel hosts the site; Stripe and Link handle hosted payments where available. Our pages also request fonts from Google Fonts and icons from Cloudflare’s cdnjs. These requests can disclose connection information such as your IP address and browser details, including before sign-in. This operational processing is different from using cookies to sell data or target advertisements.

Account and gameplay information is kept as needed to provide the Service. Transaction, security, backup, and agreement records may need to be retained for legal obligations, fraud prevention, and disputes. We may disclose information where legally required or necessary to protect the Service and its users. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.

Your choices and rights

You can adjust available profile and account settings while signed in. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, and complain to a privacy regulator. Legal retention requirements may limit deletion. Accepting the terms does not waive those rights or give consent to unrelated data processing.

Third-party checkout pages and external websites have their own privacy and storage practices. Review their notices when using those services. We remain responsible for obligations applicable to providers acting on our behalf.

10 Disclaimers & liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement where those warranties can lawfully be excluded. Mandatory guarantees for consumers and paid digital content still apply.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creator and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use of the Service, including lost profits or loss of data. Where a monetary limit is lawful, our total liability for claims arising from the Service is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. They do not restrict mandatory consumer remedies. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions or limits; in those places, they apply only to the extent permitted.

11 Disputes & legal rights

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections under the law of your place of residence.

Disputes may be brought in courts with jurisdiction in Massachusetts, without limiting your right to use a court available under mandatory consumer law. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, waive class or collective actions, or prevent you from contacting a regulator. No informal complaint procedure is a prerequisite to exercising your legal rights.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a provision does not waive it. These terms and any expressly applicable purchase terms form the agreement concerning use of the Service.

12 Changes to these terms

When these terms are updated, we will identify the new version and effective date. Material changes will receive reasonable advance notice where required, and renewed acceptance where necessary. Changes will not retroactively remove rights relating to earlier purchases or disputes.
